Krempel is proud to announce the official opening of its new Slitting and Logistics Centre (SLC) in Slavonski Brod. An inauguration ceremony held on November 29, 2024, welcomed employees’ families, city and regional representatives, and key managers from across the group.
The modern facility consolidates Krempel’s European slitting operations into one central hub, streamlining processes and improving customer service. Large rolls produced at the company’s competence centers in Germany and the UK will now be slit, packed, and shipped directly to customers from Slavonski Brod, fully tailored to individual customer requirements.
Strategic Investment in Slavonski Brod
After a comprehensive location search in 2023, Krempel chose Slavonski Brod for its strategic location and potential for growth. The contract for the 3,300-square-meter facility, formerly a textile factory, was signed in the spring of 2024. A major renovation project transformed the site into a cutting-edge logistics and slitting hub. "We are very pleased that all implementation steps are on schedule, and we can further develop the site in the coming months to its full operational status," said Ivan Zgrebec, Director of Operations Croatia.
Expansion Plans Underway
The facility has already begun processing rolls from Krempel's headquarters in Vaihingen/Enz, Germany. Currently, three slitters are operational, with additional machinery arriving shortly from Thalheim and Kuppenheim (Germany) and Longridge (UK). In 2025, Krempel plans to expand its facility with a new building, adding 1,800 sqm to the production area and introducing a brand-new in-house cooling warehouse.
New Job Opportunities
By the end of this year, around 15 employees will have started work in Slavonski Brod. A year later, after an additional building has been completed, there will be around 50 people working for the group in Croatia. With the opening of the location, Krempel aims to contribute to the development of the local economy and create new job opportunities.
A Modern Centre for Operational Excellence
The extensive renovations have resulted in a facility that meets the highest operational standards. “Thanks to the hard work of everyone involved, we have created a modern location equipped to fulfil all defined tasks successfully,” said Christopher Stierl, Director Supply Chain Management. Krempel’s investment in Slavonski Brod represents a significant step in its ongoing efforts to optimize its European supply chain and deliver top-quality products efficiently to its customers.
