In this role, you will support the development and optimization of ballistic protection systems. You will drive forward future-oriented technologies and make an important contribution to protecting lives and technology.
YOUR TASKS
- Protection Systems: Design and optimize protection structures against projectiles, fragments, as well as fragmentation and blast effects.
- Test Management: Plan, support, and evaluate ballistic testing, simulations, and qualification programs.
- Protection Assessment: Evaluate V0/V50 performance, multi-hit behavior, backface signature, penetration depth, edge hits, and failure modes.
- Technical Documentation: Prepare technical specifications, requirement documents, test plans, risk analyses, and qualification documentation.
- Material Selection: Select and assess suitable materials such as fiber composites, aramids, UHMWPE, ceramics, metals, and hybrid structures.
- Process Transfer: Transition validated protection concepts into robust, reproducible, and cost-efficient manufacturing processes.
- Customer Support: Provide technical customer support and assist in bidding, development, and series production projects in the defense sector.
- Technology Monitoring: Monitor relevant technologies, protection standards, material trends, and defense industry requirements.
YOUR PROFILE
- Qualifications: A completed degree in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Polymer/Composite Engineering, Physics, or a comparable technical field.
- Experience: Professional experience in the development, testing, or qualification of technical products within the defense or security sector, as well as experience with composite materials, pressing/lamination processes, ceramic backing systems, prototyping, and industrialization.
- Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of ballistic protection principles, protection materials, and testing/qualification processes, as well as familiarity with relevant protection and testing standards such as STANAG, VPAM, NIJ, MIL-STD, DIN/EN, or customer-specific defense requirements.
- Personal Strengths: Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with customers, testing institutes, authorities, project teams, production, and sales.
- Language Skills: : negotiation-level proficiency in German and English.
